more than just twelve Steps – THE way to Recover…

more than just twelve Steps – THE way to Recover…

THE PROBLEM

There’s a drug epidemic in our country that’s affecting our communities. It’s been happening in the inner cities for decades, and now it has a stranglehold on the rest of the U.S.

People who reach out or are forced to find help end up at a detox or treatment center. Once complete, most are told to find an “Anonymous” meeting that they are comfortable with – usually AA or NA. They are expected to be cured, fixed, TO NOT USE EVER AGAIN. People are told a tired story based on hearsay from the fellowship. However, many people mindlessly complete 12 Step Programs without ever knowing the true essence of what the problem is.

How is one going to fix something without knowing the exact nature of the problem? If the problem is wrong, the solution and program of action will be faulty as well.

After going into treatment for my first time, I was fortunate to meet a counselor that knew the drink/drug problem (Step One), the Solution (Step Two), and THE Program of Action (Steps 3-12). My charge is to carry THIS Message – the Message within the Book Alcoholics Anonymous, to all so that they, like me, can live to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

There is only ONE method used in ‘problem’ solving TO RECOVER – the Big Book contains this method

.

The program in the fellowship has definitely changed.

The program in the book has never changed.

THE SOLUTION

The Big Book is the ‘Holy Grail’ of Recovery which has been around since 1939. The vision is to let people know exactly what the steps are, their history, and how to live in the Recovery World of today. Following these steps had a 75% success rate.

A PROGRAM OF ACTION

BB103 is a program that gives interested parties a broader and deeper understanding of the AA plan of recovery from alcoholism.

It consists of people who have either recovered from addiction or People that have been through BB103 as laid out in the Book Alcoholics Anonymous.

In college, one signs up for class, gets a textbook, a supplemental workbook, and an instructor. BB103 is the class, the workbook, and the guidance one needs to successfully navigate AA. The Instructors are there from day one through life.
